See the products in action! (before you buy)

Art supply manufacturers provide samples so that stores like the Art Colony can test out the products, and have customers participate. Sometimes, they dispatch artists to show-and-tell. Demos are for previewing a product before you purchase it, or see new and crazy uses for products you have been using for years.

There are no demos currently scheduled. Please stay tuned.

PAST DEMOS:

Past Demo: Speedball Screenprinting Supplies - held March 2, 2010

The screenprinting demo was super-fun! Julianne from Speedball taught the photo emulsion method, which sounds hard but looks easy. She had made up a couple screens with the Art Colony frog logo and everybody got to make a shirt to keep. (We also made sweet aprons, on sale for $9.99) Thank you to Julianne Miller of Speedball. http://www.speedballart.com/

Past Demo: Gamblin Oil Painting Mediums - held March 4, 2010

Pete Cole, the president of Gamblin, gave a presentation about the history of oil colors and mediums. He demonstrated Gamblin's own line of mediums, which replace the highly toxic stuff of the past. We also learned about Gamblin's line of oil color line, which is divided between classic colors and modern colors. Classic colors are replications of the colors used by the Old Masters, without the toxic chemicals they had to use. Modern colors are only possible with current technology, and the Old Masters would have flipped! Thank you to Pete Cole of Gamblin. http://www.gamblincolors.com/
