Class Description: The world is your canvas. Unleash your creativity with acrylic paints. Explore acrylic mediums and techniques on canvas, panel or non-traditional surface of your choice. From cardboard to dining chairs, think outside the box… or paint it! Acrylics also lend themselves to mixed media techniques… try adding pastel, pencil, collage or spray paint.

Paint, play, have fun exploring the most versatile medium available to the modern artist. Tables and easels provided.

Supplies: bring your favorite acrylic paints, brushes, and something to paint on.

Drawing with Frances Poole

When: Tuesdays, 9:30am - 12:30pm

Fees: $30 per session, or $100 for 4 sessions

Description: This is the class to learn drawing in the traditional manner. The class focuses on basic composition, mastering three-dimensional effects, and creating beautiful light. The class is highly recommended for students who want to refine their drawing skills, and especially for those also taking painting classes.

Oil Painting (for Beginner and Intermediate) with Frances Poole

When: Tuesdays, 1:30pm - 4:30pm

Fees:  2 consecutive Classes $55, 4 consecutive classes $100;

Class Description: Learn the basics of oil painting or add to your painting skills.  Projects designed to help students loosen up, improve brush techniques and gain confidence.  Lessons may include painting wet into wet and mixing paint directly on the canvas, creating fast sketches that can be developed into finished paintings, glazing for stunning color and depth, and wet and dry scumbling to develop texture and color complexity. Students may also choose to work on individual projects depending on skills level.

Oil Painting with Betty Jacobs

When: Wednesdays, 10:00am - 3:00pm

Fees: $140 for 4 sessions, or $100 for 4 half-day sessions (end at 1:00pm)

Class Description: Take your oil painting to the next level in this four-session art class with instruction from artist Betty Jacobs, who has this to say: "Through the years that I've taught, eighteen to be exact, I have collected reproductions of excellent paintings. I have figurative files, landscaping, still-life, flowers and animals, painted in various techniques. My students select what appeals to them, providing I approve based on the level of their abilities. But perhaps more importantly I teach an approach to painting step by step which has proved very successful and rewarding for me."

Suggested Supplies:

• Oil colors: Ivory Black, Cerulean Blue, Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Viridian Blue, Chromium Oxide Green, Cadmium Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Alizarian Crimson, Cadmium Red, Cadmium Red Light, Raw Sienna, Burnt Umber, Raw Umber, Titanium White
• Further suggested colors: Naples Yellow, Thalo Red Rose (Grumbacher), Thalo Green, Thalo Blue
• Brushes: natural or synthetic; brights, filberts, rounds
• Palette knife
• Palette (paper recommended)
• Painting mediums: Linseed Oil, Damar Varnish, Turpenoid
• Rags or paper towels (Viva brand)
• Canvas: 16" x 20" or larger (Canvas board is acceptable)
• Three jars, with wateright lids
• Vine charcoal (hard)
